Poet’s Hill Holdings

An artisan’s approach to small business

who we are

We’re an entrepreneur-led firm searching for a great-fit small business to steward for the long haul. Our founder, Kathleen McKeveny, comes from a long line of servant leaders: nurses, teachers, lawyers, and followed suit — teaching and leading in schools in Chicago, D.C., and the Bay Area before pursuing her MBA at Berkeley Haas. Along the way, Kathleen founded a winery which was an education in patience, persistence, and the power of time. Poet’s Hill exists to carry on a legacy of competent, community-oriented leadership for an incredible small business and its team.

We believe in a permanent capital approach to small business — we buy without ever planning to sell. We believe that the long way is not only the best, but the most beautiful, and we take pride in quality over well, anything else. We believe that small business is a special place, and we like to keep it that way — taking care of the teams which power the day to day. We know the best things take time, and we have all the time it takes to see our commitments through.

what We Believe

what We are Looking For

We are looking for a small, durable business to steward for the long haul.

What’s small? For us, small is between $300,000 and $1,500,000 earnings yearly.

What’s durable? For us, durable is a business operating for at least 10 years, with predictable revenue in a sector which stands the test of time, and is unlikely to be disrupted by technology.
