Born to a nurse and a working artist, Kathleen’s early life was shaped by values of service and creativity.

After pursuing her B.A. at Loyola University Maryland, Kathleen joined Teach for America in Chicago-Northwest Indiana, teaching third and fourth grades and advancing TFA’s mission to disrupt the predictable, inequitable outcomes for underserved students across the U.S.

Kathleen went on to teach and lead at KIPP Public Schools both in D.C. and the Bay Area — driving results as a capable and collaborative leader. Deeply committed to the impact of the work on children and families, Kathleen became the teacher she needed when she was younger.

While leading in schools, Kathleen founded a winery in California — proving that her passion was not only community-oriented leadership, but entrepreneurship — and that if done with conviction, most things are possible.

Kathleen has focused her MBA at Berkeley Haas on Finance and Entrepreneurship through coursework and leadership in Haas’s ETA Club. She’s gained hands-on experience as a Chief of Staff in a search-acquired small business.

Poet’s Hill is the vehicle to take these skills and perspectives on a new journey to search, acquire, and run an incredible small business for the long haul.
